The oldest continuously operating franchise in American professional football plays here, which nobody outside the state gets round to mentioning. Trey McBride is the best tight end alive, Marvin Harrison Jr. catches anything thrown near him, and Jeremiyah Love is coming through behind them. State Farm keeps the heat off the grass and the noise inside.

How roster strength is built: the seven slots behind 67.7

HexScore rates a player against others at his own position, so the seven below are not added up: each is weighted by what its slot is worth to an offence, and the weights are in the last column.

The case for the 2026 season

Written before Week 1, and not revisited. Written 2026-08-21, before a single snap. Every result, injury and trade after kickoff is missing from it. Read it as a record of the argument rather than as a current one.

The best tight end in football, thirteen games indoors, and a quarterback slot at 53.1

Trey McBride rates 100.0 at his position, 4 of 457, which makes him the highest-rated tight end in football and one of the five best skill players in the league. Arizona play 13 of 17 games indoors, 1 of 32 and the most of any club. And the club rates 67.7 for roster strength, 25 of 32, because the quarterback slot rates 53.1 and carries 28% of the figure. Nobody outside this state is going to read past the third sentence, so I have put all three in it.

The tight end, priced properly for once

Trey McBride at 100.0 in an air-raid scheme at a 0.64 pass rate with tight-end usage the profile calls high. The tight end slot carries 13% of the club figure, the same as a lead back.

I believe an elite tight end in a pass-heavy scheme is the most efficient way to buy production and the least respected way to do it, and this is the cleanest instance of it in the league: a club that throws at 0.64, uses the position heavily, and has the best one in football. Every ranking that has this club near the bottom is a ranking that has priced that at roughly nothing.

And the reason the club figure is where it is

Quarterback 53.1, 176 of 457. First back 94.3, 37. First receiver 83.5. Second receiver 71.5. Second back 34.6. Flex 23.8.

A club that throws sixty-four per cent of the time with a quarterback slot at 53.1 behind a line ranked 26 of 32 is a club whose scheme and whose personnel are pointed in different directions. That is not a subtle finding and it is not one I am going to argue my way around. The scheme profile's quarterback input reads 0.58 and pass efficiency reads 0.68.

Thirteen games indoors

13 of 17, which is the most in football, and only 4 outdoors. Strength of schedule ranks 11 of 32 counting easiest first.

A fully indoor schedule is worth points that no positional model carries, and this one does not carry it either: the page counts the roof and prices nothing. A club that throws at 0.64 and plays thirteen games without weather is running the version of its offense the scheme was designed for, thirteen times. Take that as the largest unmeasured item on this page and note that it is on this club's side.

The claim, from a market nobody checks

Defensively: pass 27 of 32, rush 20, and a forward-looking composite at 11, which is a sixteen-place disagreement between what the unit has done and what it is projected to do. Team Power reads 56, 27 of 32. The value-weighted age is 25.8, 14 of 32 counting youngest first, with 36% of the rated talent under twenty-five and 16 rated players against a league average of 14.3. The bye is late, week 14.

I am sceptical of national projections for clubs that get no primetime exposure, and I would be saying that whatever the number said. So here is the version that does not depend on being overlooked: the best tight end in football, a top-thirty-five back, the most indoor games in the league, a forward defensive number in the top eleven, and one position that undoes all of it. Fix the one and this is a division club. Do not fix it and the ranking is correct, which is the least satisfying sentence on this page and the true one.

What this page does not measure. HexMetrics measures fantasy-relevant offensive production. It does not measure defense beyond a pair of z-scores, line play beyond a rank, or coaching and special teams at all. A franchise record on a club page is history rather than a forecast: no rating is derived from it, and there are no playoff odds or win totals anywhere on this site. Figures generated 2026-08-26 from the 2026 player pool. Re-run npm run build-team-cases to reproduce them.
