Arrowhead holds the record for the loudest crowd ever measured, and the last decade turned January into something closer to a home stand. Patrick Mahomes invents throws that should not exist, Travis Kelce would be welcome in any living room in America, and Rashee Rice is open before the ball leaves. Finding something to fret about takes real effort.

HexScore rates a player against others at his own position, so the seven below are not added up: each is weighted by what its slot is worth to an offence, and the weights are in the last column.

The case for the 2026 season

Written before Week 1, and not revisited. Written 2026-08-21, before a single snap. Every result, injury and trade after kickoff is missing from it. Read it as a record of the argument rather than as a current one.

Sixth in roster strength, sixth in Team Power, and the thirty-first projected defense

Kansas City rate 81 for roster strength, 5 of 32, and 92 for Team Power, 6 of 32. Two measurements that share no inputs, landing in the same place, which is as close to corroboration as this site offers. The number that does not fit is the forward-looking defensive composite: -1.58, 31 of 32. This market has to work to find something to worry about and that is this year's.

The offense, slot by slot

Quarterback 88.8. First back 95.2, 31 of 457. First receiver 96.0, 27. Tight end 87.7. Second receiver 73.3, flex 58.3, second back 20.8.

2 players inside the league's top 50 and 4 inside the top 100, behind a line ranked 6 of 32. The scheme is west coast at a 0.57 pass rate with tight-end usage the profile calls high, and I believe tight-end usage in a scheme built around it is worth more than any positional ranking prices. That is the one place I will argue with the number rather than from it.

The quarterback slot, and the thing I say every year

Patrick Mahomes rates 88.8, 62 of 457, which is lower than this market is used to seeing and is not a typo. The scheme profile's quarterback input reads 0.95, the second-highest in football, and those two numbers are built on different things: one rates the player against other quarterbacks on measured production, the other rates the offense's quarterback situation as a scheme input.

The hardest thing to sustain is not talent but health at one position, and I say so annually whether or not it is the year it matters. The slot carries 28% of the club figure. Every other number on this page is a rounding error next to that one, and the honest version of this case names it in the second paragraph rather than the last.

The receiver room nobody in this city is worried about

Rashee Rice at 96.0 and Xavier Worthy at 73.3, with the flex at 58.3. That is a top-thirty receiver and then a drop, which in most markets is a panic and here is a Tuesday.

I am sceptical of receiver-room panic in an offense that has manufactured production from thin rooms before, and the pass efficiency of 0.67 is the closest thing to evidence either way. It is unremarkable. So is the tempo at 1.02 against a league average of one. This offense has been unremarkable on the page and specific on the field for long enough that I am not going to relitigate it in August.

The defense, which is the actual worry

The backward pair is fine: pass 15 of 32, rush 11. The forward composite reads -1.58 and ranks 31 of 32, second from bottom. That is a twenty-place disagreement inside one unit and this page cannot tell you which side of it is right.

The value-weighted age is 26.9, 22 of 32 counting youngest first, with 31.5% of the rated talent under twenty-five. Strength of schedule ranks 27 of 32 counting easiest first, which is a hard slate, and the bye falls early in week 5.

So the case is the one it always is here, and it is unusually well supported this year: a top-six roster on a measurement that reads only skill players, a top-six blended rating that reads the line and the defense too, and a top-six line under all of it. The forward defensive number is the thing that could take it apart, and covering the margins in forensic detail is what this press corps does instead of celebrating, so consider it covered.

What this page does not measure. HexMetrics measures fantasy-relevant offensive production. It does not measure defense beyond a pair of z-scores, line play beyond a rank, or coaching and special teams at all. A franchise record on a club page is history rather than a forecast: no rating is derived from it, and there are no playoff odds or win totals anywhere on this site. Figures generated 2026-08-26 from the 2026 player pool. Re-run npm run build-team-cases to reproduce them.
