Two of the most improbable nights the modern game has produced belong here, both taken as an underdog nobody fancied. Malik Nabers is must-watch television, Cam Skattebo runs like he has taken personal offence, and Jaxson Dart has the makings. Seeding has never counted for much in these parts.
The fantasy roster, best rated first

The case for the 2026 season
Last in Team Power, the hardest schedule in the league, and a quarterback slot at 84.5
The Giants rate 40 for Team Power, 32 of 32, which is last, on the hardest schedule in football at 32 of 32 counting easiest first. The skill group is a different story: roster strength 74.2, 20 of 32, with a quarterback slot at 84.5 and Malik Nabers at 94.2, 38 of 457. This is a building year and I am going to say so, which is a sentence most markets will not print in August.
The numbers that make it a building year
Rush defense z-scores at -2.75, which is 32 of 32 and therefore last in football by a wide margin. Pass defense ranks 20. The line ranks 28 of 32. Strength of schedule is the hardest in the league. Team Power reads 40 and there is no thirty-third place for it to fall to.
I am sceptical of preseason ceilings generally and of this club's particularly, and the four numbers above are why. A case that promises January off that foundation is a case written for somebody else's readership.
The uncertainty worth holding
Jaxson Dart rates 84.5 at quarterback, 81 of 457, and the slot carries 28% of the club figure. The scheme profile's quarterback input reads 0.48, which is one of the lowest in football, and those two numbers disagree more sharply than almost any other pair on this site.
I believe a young quarterback with rushing production is the most valuable uncertainty on any roster, precisely because it is uncertainty rather than a known quantity. The player rating and the scheme input are measuring different things and both are honest. What the disagreement between them says is that nobody knows yet, and a club that is last in Team Power is exactly where a club wants that particular question to be open.
A receiver on a bad offense
Malik Nabers at 94.2, 38 of 457, with the second receiver at 52.6 and the flex at 41.4. The first back rates 91.6, 48, and the tight end 72.4.
I think a receiver who commands a target share on a bad offense is under-priced by every model that reads team context, and this engine does read team context as an input. So the rating above is arrived at partly through a scheme the profile scores at 0.69 for pass efficiency and a line at 28 of 32. Move him to a competent offense and I do not think 94.2 is the number. That is a belief and I am labelling it as one.
What a building year is allowed to claim
The value-weighted age is 25, 9 of 32 counting youngest first, with 54.4% of the club's rated talent held by players under twenty-five. The plain roster age is 26.8, and the distance between those two figures says the young players are the good players. The forward-looking defensive composite reads 0.21 at 12 of 32, which is the one defensive number on this page that is not an indictment. The bye is week 8.
This fanbase has two specific January runs in its memory that both began somewhere near here, and it treats them as evidence that seeding is not destiny. I am not going to use them as an argument, because two results across two decades is a story rather than a distribution. The case is smaller and it is real: a top-twenty skill group, more than half its rated talent under twenty-five, and the most valuable open question in football at the position that decides everything. That is worth a season. It is not worth a prediction, and I have never needed a case to promise one.
