The scheme is power run. Rush efficiency reads 0.72 behind a line at 18 of 32. Tempo is 0.95 against a league average of one, which is the point rather than a symptom: fewer plays, longer drives, and a scoreboard that stays close enough to matter in the fourth quarter.

Why a heavy identity is a schedule-proofing device

A club that runs the ball is a club whose worst week is closer to its best week. That is not an aesthetic preference, it is what a low-variance offense does to a season, and it is why this market has never apologised for a style the rest of the league finds boring.

Strength of schedule ranks 8 of 32 counting easiest first, one of the softer slates in the league, and 12 of 17 games are outdoors. The bye is week 9. A run-first club with a soft schedule and outdoor football in December is a club whose profile matches the games it will actually be asked to play.

And here is where my own rule turns on me

I have said for years that you do not project a passing leap for an offense that has not shown one. Pass efficiency 0.55, quarterback rating input 0.52, and a quarterback slot rating 66.1 that carries 28% of the club figure. By my own standard nobody should be pencilling in improvement there, and that includes anybody reading this page.

Worse for the case: 0 players in the top 25 and 0 in the top 50. This roster contains no player the model rates inside the top fifty of 457. Two receivers above eighty-four and a back at 86.8 is a real group, and it is a group of good players rather than a group with a great one, which is a different kind of roster and should be argued as one.

Both defensive z-scores are in the bottom third: pass 29 of 32, rush 21 of 32. The forward composite is better at 13 of 32, which is the middle. Team Power at 29 of 32 is the blend of all of it, and it is the number I would trust if I had to pick one.

The claim, sized correctly

A back's value is decided by the five players in front of him more than the discourse admits, and the line here ranks 18 of 32, which is the middle. So I am not going to claim the run game is better than the line it runs behind. Tony Pollard at 86.8 is the top of this roster and he is 72 of 457, which is honest about both things at once.

A club in the bottom third by both measurements on this page is not a contender and I am not going to say it is. What it is: young, with 52.6% of its rated talent under twenty-five, on one of the easier schedules in football, playing a low-variance style that keeps games close. The case here is a division, not a conference, and saying otherwise would be the kind of thing a supporter says in August and regrets in a specific week of November.
