The Hogs set a standard three trophies confirmed, and the club is finally being run like it wants that standard back. Jayden Daniels has been electric from his first snap and Terry McLaurin has been worth the wait several times over. The building has its noise again.

Fantasy-relevant players only. Quarterbacks, backs, receivers and tight ends, which is what HexMetrics prices. None of them sit inside the league's top 25, 1 inside the top 50, 3 inside the top 100.

HexScore rates a player against others at his own position, so the seven below are not added up: each is weighted by what its slot is worth to an offence, and the weights are in the last column.

The case for the 2026 season

Written before Week 1, and not revisited. Written 2026-08-21, before a single snap. Every result, injury and trade after kickoff is missing from it. Read it as a record of the argument rather than as a current one.

Ninth in roster strength, twenty-eighth in Team Power, and a defense the two measurements cannot agree on

Washington rate 78.2 for roster strength, 10 of 32, off 17 rated players, the most of any club in the league. Team Power reads 54, 28 of 32. The distance between those two is a defense ranked 30 and 28 backward and 6 of 32 forward, a twenty-four-place disagreement inside one unit. Jayden Daniels rates 92.0 at quarterback and carries 28% of the club figure.

The quarterback, understated

Jayden Daniels rates 92.0, 44 of 457, and is the highest-rated player on this roster. The scheme profile's quarterback input reads 0.76 and the scheme is spread at a 0.51 rush rate, which for a spread label is a heavier run split than it sounds.

I believe a rushing quarterback on a rookie contract compresses a rebuild by two years and that nothing else in football does. That is the single most consequential thing on this page and I am going to state it once, plainly, without the adjectives this market has learned to distrust.

The distribution, which is the part nobody discusses

17 rated players, more than any club in the league and against an average of 14.3. The seven slots read 92.0, 69.2, 67.1, 90.0, 83.2, 64.0, 51.5. Every one above fifty-four.

That is the flattest roster in football with a genuine top on it, and I think this club's distribution is the most informative thing on its page and the least discussed. The two backs rate 69.2 and 67.1, five points apart, which means the second-back slot is not the hole it is on almost every other club here.

The honest limit: 0 players inside the league's top 25 and 1 inside the top 50. Depth without a second star is a real shape and it is this one.

The defense, twice

Backward: pass defense -1.66 at 30 of 32, rush defense -1.44 at 28. Both bottom five. Forward: the composite reads 0.85 at 6 of 32, which is top six.

Team Power reads only the backward pair, which is why it sits at 28 of 32 while the roster figure sits at 10. I am sceptical of narrative-driven improvement and of the projections built from it, so I am not going to tell you the forward number is the true one. I am going to tell you both exist, that they are twenty-four places apart, and that this club's season is inside that gap.

What can be claimed, and what this market has learned not to

The line ranks 23 of 32, which is the weakest thing here after the backward defensive pair. Strength of schedule ranks 19 of 32 counting easiest first. The value-weighted age is 27, 24 of 32, with 12.6% of the rated talent under twenty-five. The bye is week 7.

So the claim is deliberately small and it is not a hedge. A top-ten skill group, the deepest roster in the league by rated players, a quarterback inside the top 50 on a contract that makes everything else affordable, and a defense that one of two honest measurements likes. That is a club in the conversation, and in this market saying that much out loud is already further than the last twenty years earned. The question here has never been whether the roster is good. It is whether it is allowed to be, and this is the first page in a while where the measurement answers the first half without help.

What this page does not measure. HexMetrics measures fantasy-relevant offensive production. It does not measure defense beyond a pair of z-scores, line play beyond a rank, or coaching and special teams at all. A franchise record on a club page is history rather than a forecast: no rating is derived from it, and there are no playoff odds or win totals anywhere on this site. Figures generated 2026-08-26 from the 2026 player pool. Re-run npm run build-team-cases to reproduce them.
